The Brindlee Mountain varsity girls won at Woodville on Wednesday, but that was just about the only highlight for the school’s teams this week.

Kyleigh Wilks scored 17 points in the 53-20 win, The varsity boys lost 54-41 despite 15 points from Nick Knepper.

On Thursday, playing at home, the varsity girls lost 61-37 to DAR. Kaitlin Childress led the Lady Lions with nine points.

The varsity boys, who were blown out by DAR earlier in the season, put up a much tougher fight this time in a 55-47 loss. The Lions led 16-8 after one quarter and 26-19 at the half before losing the lead in the third quarter.

Knepper led the Lions with 19 points, including 16 in the first half. Christian Adams added nine.

The JV girls 46-15. Maggie Roberson had seven points.

The JV boys fell 41-33. David Costley scored 10 points and Matthew Green had nine.

Tuesday at Vinemont, Ella Knights scored 14 points to lead the JV girls to an easy 44-13 win.

The varsity girls lost 46-33 despite 12 points by Chantzley Kirkland.

Nick Knepper and Caleb Scott scored 13 points and Ian Garner had nine but the varsity boys fell short, 69-62.

Elijah Bell scored 12 points in the JV boys’ 68-30 loss.

Playing at Douglas on Thursday, the seventh grade boys lost 52-10. Bryant Hayes had six points.

The eighth grade boys lost 57-14. J.P. Taymon scored six points.

A combined seventh/eighth grade team, playing as an eighth team squad, lost 36-13. Layla Bruno had four points.

On Tuesday, Brindlee Mountain Middle hosted Whitesburg Christian, and the combined girls team lost 20-12. Addi Garmany had five points.

A combined seventh/eighth grade boys team also fell, 33-22. Taymon had nine points and Travis Jones had eight.
