Arab Riptide

The Arab swim team will compete in the Marshall County meet at Boaz on Saturday.

As the regular season winds down this week, the resurgent Arab Riptide swim team now turns its attention to the postseason.

Arab carried a 5-3 record into Tuesday’s final meet at Fort Payne after defeating Albertville in an exciting showdown at Arab last Thursday. The Riptide was scheduled to host a meet Thursday night against Jacksonville, but it was postponed after Jacksonville joined Tuesday’s competition to make it a tri-meet.

That means the Riptide’s next competition will be the Marshall County meet Saturday at Boaz.

“We would like a good showing from Arab this year,’ said assistant coach Josh Shumate.

Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. and should be completed by 4 p.m. at the latest, Shumate said.

Relays will be mixed, meaning there must be at least one competitor of the opposite gender. Individual events will be as usual.

After the county meet will be the District II meet at Cullman on July 12-13. Competition begins at 9 a.m. both days.

The state meet at Opelika will be July 26-27.
