Football season has just started but the Arab Parks & Recreation Department will be gearing up for basketball this coming week.

Basketball sign-ups begin Tuesday and will continue until Oct. 6 for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14.

Age is based on Aug. 31, 2019 (today). Players sign up at the Arab Recreation Center and must bring a copy of their birth cer-tificates when regis-tering. Fee is $50 and must be paid at the time of registration.

Anyone who would like to coach a basketball team should come by the rec center and fill out a coach’s form. Any questions, please call the rec center at 256-586-6793.

• Here’s all I know about the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Network. Hulu has it – now. Someone at Spectrum told me that Alabama is considered an outer market but it should show up on Channel 338 sometime between Sept. 6-9.

DirecTV reportedly has the ACC Network but I have yet to see it (I have DirecTV but I haven’t really searched for it). Conversations continue with Cox, Comcast and Dish.

Stay tuned.

• What a mess Hurricane Dorian is making. And I’m just talking about its effect on college football.

Because of the threat of Dorian, the Florida State-Boise State game scheduled for tonight in Jacksonville was first moved to an 11 a.m. start. Then the game itself was moved to Tallahassee.

The game was supposed to be televised on ESPN. Now, it’ll be shown on ESPN News. The 6:30 p.m. game on ESPN now is Georgia at Vandy. Georgia Southern at LSU will be the SEC Network game.
