Two Arab teams finished in first place at last Wednesday’s Marshall County Cross Country Meet at Guntersville.
The varsity girls finished first as a team and three individuals finished in the top 10, including Grace Gosline, who took first place. Julie Stapler placed fourth and Delaney Maze finished eighth.
The varsity boys, led by Austin Smith’s 10th place finish, took third place as a team.
The junior high girls took first place as a team and Jill Stapler finished first individually. Lauren Lambert finished fourth and Casandra Roberson placed eighth.
The Arab Junior High boys placed third. They were led by Mark Boatright, who finished third.
“Both of our varsity teams came to compete and pushed through different setbacks to place as well as they did,” said coach Shelley Harden. “They knew the times that they needed and who our competition was going to be for county.”
Arab next competes in the sectionals today at St. Bernard with the top 10 girls and top 10 boys trying to qualify for state.
“I am very excited to see what we can do at sectionals,” Harden said. “This team has a lot of talent and they have worked very hard all season to get to our sectional meet.”
