Brindlee Mountain’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams played their first home matches of the season Tuesday but things didn’t go as well as they hoped.

The varsity played a grueling match against Douglas but ultimately lost, 14-25, 25-21, 3-15. The Lady Lions then fell to Holly Pond, 6-25, 20-25.

The JV team fell to Douglas 19-25, 15-25 and to Holly Pond, 12-25, 27-29.

On Monday, the varsity team split a pair of matches at Glencoe. The Lady Lions defeated Saks 25-23, 25-23 but lost to Glencoe 17-25, 16-25.

The JV team lost to Faith Christian 25-15, 15-25, 9-15 and to Glencoe 20-25, 15-25.

• Middle school

The Brindlee Mountain Middle School got the season started last Thursday at Boaz, losing to DAR 4-25, 6-25 and to Boaz 11-25, 17-25.

On Monday, the middle school defeated Saks 25-15, 22-25, 15-10 but lost to Glencoe 25-19, 18-25, 11-15.
