Senior Night for the Brindlee Mountain softball team turned out to be special for several reasons.
The team’s two seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program, then both went out and had big games.
To top it off, the Lady Lions defeated Vinemont 12-5 for their first Area 13 win of the season.
Senior Anna Pruitt was the winning pitcher. She also had a hit and drew two walks at the plate. Fellow senior Madison Reed had two hits and reached base a third time when she was hit by a pitch for the 11th time this season.
Savanna Avelar continued her hot hitting, banging out three hits, including a double. Seventh grader Layla Bruno had two hits, including the team’s first triple of the season. The Lions had 14 hits overall, and everyone in the starting lineup got at least one hit.
The ended play in Area 13. Brindlee Mountain (1-5 in the area, 3-10 overall) will play at top-seeded New Hope in the first game of the area tournament, which will be played sometime between Friday, April 26, and may 4. Vinemont and Holly Pond also will square off at New Hope.
