Arab wrestling

After finishing third in the St. Clair Invitational this past weekend, the Arab varsity competed in the State Duals semifinal against Alexandria at home last night.

The Arab varsity wrestling team finished in third place out of 26 teams at the very tough St. Clair County “Jeremy Ragsdale” tournament held this past Friday and Saturday.

All 13 of Arab’s wrestlers scored team points with three of them placing in the Top 4 in their weight classes.

Jacob Holland won the 115-pound division, while Caleb Roe (162 pounds) and Ryan Morelan (172) had third-place finishes. It was a big day for Morelan, who also celebrated his birthday.

The Knights competed last night at home against Alexander in the State Duals semifinal round for the right to represent the north in the Class 1A-5A finals. Should Arab advance, it will wrestle at 6 p.m. Friday at the Crossplex in Birmingham.

Arab has won two of the three state duals tournaments.
