The JV Knights picked up a 21-8 home win over Scottsboro on Monday night in comeback fashion.
Scottsboro’s first drive of the game went literally to the goal line, but
Arab was able to mount a goal-line stand to halt the drive.
The Wildcats cashed in next time, though, on a 27-yard run by Jonathan Tolliver with
7:43 remaining in the second quarter. Austin Burger’s conversion run gave
Scottsboro an early 8-0 lead.
Arab got on the board with 3:19 to go in the half on a 2-yard run by Logan Alldredge, but the two-point conversion attempt failed.
The Knights spent all but one play of the third quarter driving to Scottsboro’s 14 before running out of downs.
Quarterback Jackson Cook completed an 11-yard pass to Dylan Kirkland on a third-and-9 call and
Alldredge picked up 2 yards on a fourth-and-1 call to keep the drive alive before eventually stalling.
But Arab’s next drive, dominated by runs from Alldredge, who picked up 93 yards on 16 carries in the second half alone, ended with an Alldredge run of 6 yards for a score with 40.2 seconds left in the game.
Alldredge then went in for two to give the Knights a 14-8 lead. The Wildcats’ chances were diminished when Jaxon Ivey intercepted a pass and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown with 18 seconds remaining.
Aiden Wooten booted the extra point.
