William Earby Putnam, 78, of Arab died Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Putnam was born March 7, 1941, in Arab to William Guy and Lillar Mae Cranford Putnam. He and the former Alice Faye Whisenant were married July 6, 1959.

He was a sheet metal worker for SCI. He enjoyed playing the guitar and in years past played and performed with P.T. and Ann Williams in a group called "Cabin on The Hill."

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Alice Faye Putnam of Arab; son: Waymon Putnam of Arab; daughter and son-in-law: Lycrecia and Glenn Morehouse of Union Grove; grandson: Christopher Morehouse; granddaughter and in-law: Virginia and Jon Denney; and a great-granddaughter: Jaden Denney.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at Gober Funeral Home with Arthur Feemster and Kenneth Putnam officiating. Burial was in Gilliams Springs Cemetery with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Jon Denney, Steve Putnam, Tim Cranford, Rodney Green, Matt Williams and Dean Walls.
