Tom B. McWhorter, 87, of Arab died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Shepherds Cove Hospice in Albertville.

Mr. McWhorter was born June 18, 1932, to Carlos B. McWhorter and Annie B. Growers McWhorter in Cullman County.

He served in the United States Army and the Alabama National Guard.

He was a member of the Arab First Baptist Church and lived in Arab for most of his life. He was a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge 663, the Cahaba Shiners’ in Huntsville, a Shriners’ Road Runner and an American Legion.

He loved to travel every chance he got in his lifetime; he had visited all fifty states.

He is survived by his wife of seven years: Pauline “Polly” Robertson McWhorter; son: Tommy McWhorter; daughter: Mary Jane McWhorter; brother and sister-in-law: Dennis and Sarah McWhorter; sister, Trudy Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Virginia Douglas McWhorter; second wife: Betty Jean Lowery McWhorter; brother: Carlton McWhorter.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Caleb Godfrey, Jason Allen and Chris McWhorter officiating.
