Steve Harper

Steve Harper, 61, of Arab died Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Harper was born May 16, 1960, in Arab to L.D Harper and Nellie Henderson Harper.

He was a 1978 graduate of Arab High School Class and a faithful member of the Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Church, in which he served as the choir director. He was very active with the youth of the church, along with many other facets and church functions.

He is survived by his siblings and in-laws: Kathy and Oliver Taylor, Lynn and Beverly Harper, Kristi and Leland Walker; nieces and nephew and in-laws: Ashley and Darrin Fronk, Kaitlyn Harper, Karli Walker, Andrew and Malerie Walker, Candace Denney and Alyssa Hadley; great-nieces and great-nephews: Abby, Eli, Rhett, Moriah, Emery, Aiden and Emersyn.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Union Hill FCM Church with Freddy Waldrop and Mark Wisener officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemeter with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Greg Still, Mike Still, Dewayne Shedd, Michael Hardin, Jake Hostetler, Elton Haymon, Ronnie Brookshire and David Young.

Honorary pallbearers were the Revs. Chris Claiborne, C.T. Townsend, Jonathan Dumas, Steve Beam, Clay Spears, Shannon Black, Josh Hogeland, Mike Shirley, Jacob Moody, and Fred Prosser and Brian Conkle, as well as all the preachers of Union Hill Church.
