Travis “Sonny” Windell Briscoe Sr., 83, of the Ruth community died Friday, July 19, 2019, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.

Mr. Briscoe was born May 20, 1936, in Marshall County to John Emmitt Briscoe and Lillie Mae Rutledge Briscoe. He was married to the former Willa Jo Hallmark for 48 years.

He retired from Bow Water Paper Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Willa Jo Briscoe; son and daughter-in-law: Travis and Nada Briscoe; daughter and son-in-law: Saundra and Randy Handley; grandchildren: Sharanna Dickson, Myles Bateman, Blake Hogan; great-grandchild, Hayden Bridges.

He was preceded in death by a son: Ricky Dickson; and 10 siblings.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Clint Maze and Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial was in Mount Oak-Ruth Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
