Raymon William Phillips, 77, of Arab died Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.

Mr. Phillips was born Aug. 3, 1941, to William and Neatie Wilks Phillips. He was married to the former Donna Hewitt for 29 years.

He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was in charge of sound for the music group Boys of Alabama. He is a member of the VFW in Arab, life member of the NRA, served as an auxiliary for the police department and was part of the neighborhood watch. He enjoyed raising horses.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Phillips; step sons: Robert Barnes, Jim Barnes and Kelley Conner; step daughter: Debbie Barnes Collins; sister and brother-in-law: Lavella and R.V. Maze; brother and sister-in-law: Louie and Estelle Phillips; step grandchildren: Tracy Jackson, Stacy Wilbourn; step great-grandchildren: Taylor Jackson, Sean Jackson; and host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Nellie June Hayes; brothers: Troy Phillips, Radford Phillips.

The funeral was at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Michael Lackey and Gary Beam officiating. Burial was in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
