Myra Juanez “Sam” Alexander, 73, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020.
Mrs. Alexander was born Nov. 8, 1947, to J.W. Sampson and Hazel Augusta Atchley Sampson. She was married to James Clyde Alexander, who preceded her in death.
She is a retired missile log writer for the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.
She was originally from the Mountain View area but lived in the Ruth community for the majority of her life.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed showing horses, bowling and softball. Later on she enjoyed crocheting, reading, shopping and spending time with her family.
She was an active member of the Union Grove Holiness Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: David Jay-Logan and Tanya Alexander; daughters and son-in-law: Victoria Elaine and Randy Sims and Kimberly Jo Minchew; sister and brother-in-law: Sandy and Randie Walker; sister-in-law: Michelle Sampson; grandchildren: Hunter Alexander, Carly Sims, Kaylin Alexander and Breanna Alexander; a niece and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Lowell Sampson; and nephew: Joshua Aaron Sampson.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Jared Shields and Roy Walls officiating. Burial was in New Prospect Cemetery in Scottsboro with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Chris Walker, Randie Walker, Nathan Blau, Daryl Grace, Jeff Johnson and Brandon Allen.
