Louise Martin Smalley, 93, of Arab died Monday, Dec. 14, 2020.

Mrs. Smalley was born March 10, 1927, in Hartselle to William Albert and Grace Martin. She was married to Jerrel Smalley for nearly 70 years. He preceded her in death.

She lived most of her life in Arab where she graduated from Arab High School. She worked at the Bank of Arab early in her career then worked alongside her husband as a bookkeeper in his many business ventures for many years.

She was active in a number of organizations and was a lifelong member of Arab First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law: Leona and Ganes Burden of Florette; son and daughter-in-law: Dan and Mary Nell Smalley; daughter and son-in-law: Jan and Brad Kitchens; grandchildren and in-law: Jeremy and Amber Smalley of Bayou LaBatre, and Dana and Brian Camp, Wes Kitchens and Caleigh Kitchens of Arab; and great-grandson: James Camp.

She is predeceased by a sister: Evia Ruth Martin of Decatur, AL.

A private graveside service was held Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Arab Memorial Cemetery with Jeremy Smalley and Wes Kitchens officiating and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Smalley, Wes Kitchens, Brad Kitchens, Brian Camp, and Mickey Childers.

Memorials may be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951 who gave her wonderful end of life care
