Linda Sue Whitehorn, 79, of Arab died Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Mrs. Whitehorn was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Missouri to John and Ethel Wheetley Vaughn. She married the love her life, Teddy Whitehorn, June 9, 1961, and they were together for 59 years before his death.
She was a Godly woman who put her Lord and Savior first and served her family and church with love and compassion. One of her greatest goals was to have her entire family in church and serving The Lord with her. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church, loved to sing in the choir and was known for her banana pudding.
She retired from at Jay Mar Ruby in Michigan City, Ind., as a cutting room office supervisor after 20 years. They moved to Arab, where she worked for WRAB radio station as an office manager for many years.
She enjoyed garage sales and could not pass by a thrift store without stopping. She and her husband also shared a love for camping.
She is survived by her daughters: Tammy (Anthony) Selby and Janina (Steve) Curley; son: Terry (Carrie) Whitehorn; grandchildren: Tabitha (Daniel) Dailey, Traci (Jarrod) Phillips, Chris (Nikki) Selby, April (Rob) Smith, Tiffany Wallace, Brian Wallace, Amber Fieger, Jessica (Matthew) Moore and T.J. Whitehorn (Rylee Garretson); and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, a brother and a great-grandchild.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. today, May 11, 2023, at Sweet Home Baptist Church followed by the funeral with Andy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Whitehorn, Chris Selby, Rob Smith, Matthew Moore, Jarrod Phillips, and Daniel Dailey.
The family would like to express our thanks to Diversicare of Arab and Heartlite Hospice for the care they provided. The love and care you showed to her and our family will never be forgotten.
