Larry K. Whitley, 82, died Monday, March 22, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Whitley was born June 15, 1938, in Cleburne County to Hugh Leamon Whitley and Dovie Bell McClain Whitley. He was married to the former Joyce Hill for 62 years.

He worked as a commercial carpenter for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and collecting small antiques. In the past he also enjoyed raising cattle.

He was a member of Ruth Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Whitley; sons and daughter-in-law: Larry Whitley, Jerry and Connie Whitley, Garry Whitley; grandchildren: Brandy Cardwell, Samuel Whitley, Caleb Whitley, D.J. Whitley, Michael Whitley; great-grandchildren: Laura Jean Cardwell, Chelsea Cardwell; two special friends: Darlene Evans, Linda Karr.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Rudolph Whitley, Dwight Whitley, Wayne Whitley; sisters: Dorothy Martin, Shirley Hunkapillar; and daughter-in-law: Michelle Delorme Whitley.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Keith Whitley officiating. Burial was in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Samuel Whitley, Caleb Whitley, D.J. Whitley, Michael Whitley, John Story, Kent Pritchard.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Sloan, Tommy Guerin, and Bruce Light.

Memorials may be made to Gilliam Springs Cemetery Fund.
