Kenny Black

Joe Kenneth “Kenny” Black, 71, of Union Grove died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Black was born and raised in Union Grove to Joe Otto and Marie Shumate Black.

He was mechanically inclined and a naturally gifted mechanic. He had a successful career as a large tractor mechanic for John Deere until his retirement. By many, he will be remembered as North Alabama’s large tractor expert.

He was a steadfast husband and brother, a loving father, a good friend, and a good man.

He is survived by wife: Rhonda Jane Parish Black; son: Wesley P. Black; stepdaughter: Dawn Melissa McAdams Parish; sister: Linda Sue Smith; brother: William Bruce Black; brother-in-law: John V. Smith; daughter-in-law: Rei Black; son-in-law: Kurt Taylor; nephews: Larry Joe Black, Robert Alan Smith, Brad Adam Black; nieces: Susan Darlene Smith, Sharon Massengill; granddaughters: Tiana Leigh Solomon and Emeralde Breanna Parish; great-granddaughters: Breanna Marie and Taylor Elizabeth; and many friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Dale Black.

A private family service was held.
