Juanita Brooks, 89, of Arab, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Mrs. Brooks was born April 28, 1930, in Randolph County to Moroah Amon Gilliland and Mary Ann Gaberil Gilliland. She was married to William Douglas “Doug” Brooks, who preceded her in death.

Her hobbies included reading and cooking. She had taught Sunday school classes at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church where she was a member. 

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her daughter-in-law and her husband: Samantha and Tim Berry; grandchild and in-law: Maci E. and David Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her son: William David “Dave” Brooks; two brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Max Roden officiating. Burial was in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Jr. Plunkett, Ken Plunkett, Alvie Plunkett, Barry Plunkett, David Hamilton and Phillip Brooks.
