Irma Elizabeth Yates, 67, of Arab died Friday, June 26, 2020, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Ms. Yates was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Blount County to Frank D. Yates and Lillie Mae Mangum Yates.

She was a retired Spanish/French teacher at Walker County High School and was a member of Mt. Oak Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister: Carolyn Brawley of Arab; brother-in-law: Wayne Murphree of Blountsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters: Lavada Morton, Ramie Nora Wallace, Patricia Potter, Lavera Murphree and Linda Faye Yates; and brothers: Herbert Yates and David Yates.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Ennis Stone officiating. Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Micheal Wallace, Michael Goodwin, David Morton, Phillip Wallace, Robert Sweatman and Preston Sweatman

Honorary pallbearers were Andy Atchley, Roger Head, Fred Page, John King, Johnny Light, Dewitt Peek, Phillip Blevins, Perry Allbritten and Lyle King.
