Ila Ruth Lockhart, 50, of Arab died Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Lockhart was born Aug. 2, 1968, in Huntington, W.Va., to Roy Ernest and Verla Mae Bailey Boyd. She was married to Leron Lockhart.

She was an accomplished author and poet.

She is survived by her husband: Leron Lockhart of Arab; mother: Verla Mae Green of Arab; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Lisa Jo and Ricky Ard, Risa Fillmore, Nancy Gresham, Agnes Boyd and Ken Duncan of Arab, and Beatrice Boyd and Larry Hamby of Holly Pond; three brothers-in-law: Charlie F. Lockhart III of Hazel Green, Bobby Lockhart of Harvest and Christopher Lockhart of Huntsville; two sisters-in-law: Gussie V. Churchill of Kentucky, Janice Haygood of Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow, July 25, 2019, at Liberty Church downtown campus, with Gober Funeral Chapel assisting the family.
