H. Hunkeapillar

Hilda “Susie” Sue Hunkeapillar, 77, of the Union Hill community of Morgan County died Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Hunkeapillar was born June 19, 1942, in Morgan County to Grade Thomas and Nora Ellis Culbreath Thomas. She was married to Emmitt Wayne Hunkeapillar, who preceded her in death.

She lived in the Union Hill community area all of her life. She was a very busy lady as she worked for General Motors as a job setter, and retired later in her career. She had many hobbies: reading western novels, engaging in her church, raising her great-grandson, having breakfast with her friends, and showing her silky terriers. She was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Donna Ann Hunkeapillar and Debra Gayle Hunkeapillar; grandson: Thomas Wayne Byrum; great-grandchildren: Jessi Goostree, Jospeh Goostree, and Gauge Byrum, whom Susie and her late husband raised.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Lucy Darlene Hunkeapillar.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at New Canaan Baptist Church in Morgan County with Eldridge Criscoe and Robert Cruise officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery in Union Grove with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
