Jasper F. “Fred” Basye Jr., 80, of Arab died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Mr. Basye was born Dec. 12, 1940, in Mississippi to Jasper F. Basye Sr. and Ola Mae Crawley Basye.

He was a retired math teacher at Walnut Grove High School and attended Sweet Home Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Nicole and David Stephens of Madison and Rhodona and Mike Carroll of Locust Fork; sister: Patsy Smith of Texas; brothers and sister-in-law: Gordon Stuckey of Mississippi and Bobby and Linda Starkey of Louisiana; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan.16, 2021, at Gober Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time.
