Hunkeapillar

Emmitt “Wayne” Hunkeapillar, 80, of the Union Hill community died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Mr. Hunkeapillar was born May 30, 1939, in Marshall County to Emmitt Hunkeapillar and Mary Hazel Fletcher Hunkeapillar. He was married to the former Hilda Thomas for 62 years.

He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church, Union Hill community and was a retired deacon.

He is survived by his wife: Hilda Thomas Hunkeapillar; daughters: Donna Ford, Debra Hunkeapillar; grandson: Thomas Wayne Byrum; great-grandchildren: Gauge Byrum (who Mr. and Mrs. Hunkeapillar raised), Jessi Goostree and Joseph Goostree; brother and sister-in-law: Marlin and Judy Hunkeapillar; sister: June Ratley.

He was in death by his sisters: Mary Ann Moore, Betty Wilson, Virginia Starnes.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at New Canaan Baptist Church with Eldridge Criscoe and Robert Cruise officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery with Brindlee Mountain Chapel and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers were Troy Pritchett, Jeff Pritchett, Brandon Miller, Clay Crawford, David Feemster, Freddie Page.
