Dr. Raymond Leon Gause, 84, of Arab died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at Huntsville Hospital.

Dr. Gause was born May 18, 1936 in Oklahoma.

He served in the United States Army and National Guards for over 13 years.

He moved in 1983 to a horse farm located in Arab. He was passionate about riding horses, however, when his health started to fail him in 2003, he and his wife moved into town.

He retired after working many years at NASA. After retirement, he went to work for SAIC, California branch out of Huntsville and later returned to NASA as a consultant.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Janell Baxter Gause; son and daughter-in-law: Randall Kent and Wendy Gause; daughter and son-in-law: Shari and Keith Tice; grandchildren and in-laws: Katie and John Huffman, Rhett Henry Baxter Gause, Johnathan Trey Gause, Jonathan Kyle and Victoria Tice and Ryan Christopher Tice; and great-grandchildren: Maggie Huffman and Annie Huffman.

He will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Okla. The family will announce services to be held in Oklahoma at a later date.

Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel and Martin Dugger Funeral Home are assisting the Gause family.
