Dorothy Beasley

Dorothy Louise Beasley, 84, of Arab died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville.

Mrs. Beasley was born March 9, 1937, in Etowah County to Lucille and Harvey Pinson Sr. She was married to Marvin Beasley for 65 years.

She was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she started the first church library and was the first church staff secretary.

She enjoyed her roses and crepe myrtle trees.

She loved spending time with her family and going on trips with her husband and three daughters (the Original Five).

She is survived by her husband: Marvin Beasley; daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa and Grady Hester, Linda and Russell Gregory and Sandy and Mark McDonald; grandchildren and in-laws: Paige and Evan Gossett, Amber and Michael Greenhaw, Scott and Angie Hester, Brittany Reid, Crystal and Matthew Whisenant, Jacob and Abigail McDonald and Rachel and Drew Davis; great-grandchildren: Madison, Sarah, Jordan, Brianna, Elijah, Henry, Gretta, Grayson, Jaxon, Hailey, Louie, Adalyn, Alyssa and Bethany; brother: Harvey Pinson Jr.; and sisters: Helen Brothers, Barbara Broome and Beth Dial.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Pinson; son-in-law: Jim Travis; and grandson-in-law: Chris Reid.

Over a period of several years, she and her husband were loving foster parents to over 30 children, in particular Ann Bolding and Jeanie Anderson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 9, 2021, at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Whitaker, the Rev. Max Roden and the Rev. Jamey Pruett officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hester, Jacob McDonald, Drew Davis, Matthew Whisenant, Nic Knighten and Will Harbison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Greenhaw, Evan Gossett, Jordan Enlow, Henry Hester, Elijah Travis, Grayson Whisenant, Jaxon Reid and Louie Hester.
