Donnie Joe Clemons, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, at the VA Hospital in Birmingham.

 Mr. Clemons was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Arab to Gilmer and Idell Hughes Clemons.

He graduated from Arab High School in 1961 and studied at Calhoun Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1965-67 and spent one year in Vietnam.

He lived in Atlanta as a young man and worked at Lockheed. He spent most of his professional career as an electronics troubleshooter at Chrysler in Huntsville.

He lived life to its fullest from beginning to end. He enjoyed music, art, travel, politics, and good conversation. He is remembered for his quick wit, unflinching humor, and gentle kindness.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law: Laura Clemons and Cynthia and Forrest Peacock of Tuscaloosa; grandson: Brooks; sister: Jane Cox of Arab.

He was preceded in death by sisters: Rebecca Woodsmall and Patricia Hornsby.

The funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with burial at Rocky Mount Cemetery.
