Dewon Simpson, 80, of Arab died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020.

Mr. Simpson was born July 28, 1940, in Clay County, Ark., on to R.A. Simpson and Edith Davis Simpson. He was married to the former Billie Ellen Connelly for 40 years.

He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was strong in his faith and loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart. He is a former employee with Universal Studios and Cypress Gardens in Florida.

He enjoyed buying and selling cars, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as an usher and as well on the St. Vincent’s DePaul committee.

He was most proud of his 20-plus year career in the United States Army. He retired in September of 1997 with the rank of Sergeant Major.

He was a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church in Guntersville, Alabama.

He is survived by his wife: Billie Connelly-Simpson; siblings and in-laws: Dian and John Foltz, Doyle and Carol Darrell; sons and daughter-in-law: Timothy Simpson and Travis and Anita Simpson; stepchildren: Daniel Johnson and Cindy Howard; five grandsons; and two granddaughters.

There are no services to announce at this time. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
