Davis L. Ponder, 70, of the Grassy community died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020.
Mr. Ponder was born Oct. 25, 1949, in Marshall County to Silas A. Ponder and Mildred S. Cox Ponder. He was married to the former Kathy Lou Mason for five years.
He was a retired machine operator, formerly employed with Crysler. After his retirement, he enjoyed a number of hobbies, which included playing music and singing, yard work and watching Auburn football.
He was a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church and was loved by all.
He is survived by his wife: Kathy Ponder; stepsons: Jason Golden and Kevin Golden; daughter and son-in-law: Amanda and Chris Schuknecht; stepdaughter and son-in-law: Tammy and Mike Williams; brother and sister-in-law: Glen and Barbara Ponder; sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Ken Reisenweber; stepsister: Sandy McKelvey; grandchildren: Morgan Ponder and Cody Mayo; and a host of step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter: Heather Golden.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Tim Lynch and Andy Brown officiating. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery in the Grassy community with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Allen Ponder, Ricky Martin, Cody Bridges, Scott Reisenweber, Kevin Golden and Jason Golden.
