Daniel Wayne McNeal, 61, of Arab died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, in the V.A. Medical Center, Birmingham.
Mr. McNeal was born April 13, 1958, to Glenn O. and Cherie A. Horner McNeal.
He was an Eagle Scout, Troop 60 and a 1976 graduate of Arab High School. He lettered twice in football for Arab High and was voted All-County Defense.
After graduation he served in the United States Navy with honor and courage aboard the nuclear attack submarine the USS Aspro. He was also a professional commercial carpenter. His hobbies included golf, playing guitar, was an avid lifelong reader and an Alabama football and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his parents: Glenn and Cherie McNeal of Arab; three brothers and their families: brothers and their family: Michael and his wife, Jane, and son Michael Jr.; Steve and his wife Laura, and daughter Raegan and sons Logan and Jacob; Tom and his wife, Kerrie, and daughters Caroline, Olivia and Katherine; niece and in-law: Amanda and Jesse Cole; great niece: Kaitlin; niece and in-law: Tammy and Greg Willis; great niece: Josie; great nephew: Sam; and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
The funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Steve West officiating. Burial was in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Pallbearers were Jesse Cole, Greg Willis, Ron Hyatt, Kevin Gross, Tim Holloway and Keith Hawkins.
