Carol Simpson Maxwell, 70, of Lacey’s Spring died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville.

Mrs. Maxwell was born Feb. 21, 1949, in Morgan County to Ernest and Ruth Simpson. She was married to Roger Maxwell for 44 years. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 2013.

She graduated from Union Hill High School and Athens State Community College with a business degree. She retired from Norris Cylinder to spend time with her grandchildren.

She was a cherished mother, treasured nana and loved by her family and friends. She grew up in Union Hill and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and had a special bond with the ladies she taught.

She is survived by her daughter: Jennifer Maxwell Nay; grandchildren: Madison Nay and Ethan Nay; sisters and brother-in-law: Gloria and J.W. Brown, Leta Brooks; brother and sister-in-law: Ernest Jr. and Diann Simpson; sister-in-law: Carron Maxwell Trainor and Bob; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at New Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. Eldridge Criscoe, the Rev. Robert Cruise and Jeff McLemore officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel and Brindlee Mountain Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Greg Gullion, Dean Mullis, Marty McCaghren, Ricky Lenox, Jim Northway and Rick Allen.
