Theron D. "Butch" Holmes, 79, of Holly Pond died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Holmes was born May 22, 1940, in Cullman County to George Holmes and Ruby Holt Holmes.

Before retirement he was a flooring specialist. He was a member of the Bow Hunters Association, an avid bow hunter and made a lot of his bows.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Freeman Holmes of Holly Pond; son: Richard Holmes of Holly Pond; daughters and son-in-law: Theresa and Rick Peters of Lakeland, Fla., and Charlene Sampson of Holly Pond; grandchildren: April Brown, Brandy Reinert, Lasha Mitchell Boman, Ashley VanPelt, Amber Sampson, Nathan Sampson; 11 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; sister: Nell Romine of Gardendale.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Monk.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today, Dec. 7, 2019, at Gober Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 8, 2019, at Gober Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Brashier’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dorning, Aaron McCoy, Tony Dorning, Nathan Sampson, Jonathan Boman and Randy Cryer.
