Chamness

The Rev. Robert “Buddy” O.L. Chamness, 87, of the Brashiers Chapel community died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Marshall Medical Center North.

The Rev. Chamness was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Marshall County to Ollie Robert Chamness and Roxie Minnie Que Myers Kirkland Chamness. He was married to the former Verta Lou Coker, who preceded him in death Feb. 11, 2017.

He served the Lord as a pastor at Langston, Haney Chapel, Mt. Moriah, Hay Good United Methodist Church, Pleasant Grove, Mt. Oak United Methodist Church, Freeman Chapel First Congregational Methodist Church and Grace Church from 1964 to 2016. He attended Eddy Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Robert Lee and Sandy Chamness; daughters and brother-in-law: Janet C. and Ralph Kelly, Susan Ann Chamness; daughter-in-law: Robyn Mitchell Chamness; grandchildren: Nickey Albert and Angie Chamness, Layla and Scotty Foshee, Dustin Hollaway, Audra and Travis Nelson, Melanie Nelson; great-grandchildren: Hannah Grace Chamness, Cordell Minor, Payton Elijah Matkin.

He was preceded in death by a son: Albert Chamness; and brother: O.A. Chamness.

The graveside service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Brashiers Chapel Cemetery with Larry Dyar and Brandon Dyar officiating and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Jacky Chamness, Johnny Chamness, Doug Chamness, Scotty Foshee, Cordell Minor, Travis Nelson.
