Arthur “Benny” Benjamin West, 84, of the Morgan City area died Monday, Nov. 9, 2020, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. West was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Fitzgerald, Ga., to Arnon E. West and Essie Clyde Swearingen West. He was married to the former Jeanette Stuckey for 65 years.

He served in the United States Air Force Reserve and worked as a computer analyst at Redstone Arsenal.

He enjoyed traveling, camping, tending to his lawn and garden, flying drones and spending time with his family.

He attended New Hope Revival Ministries and supported the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

He is survived by his wife: Jeanette West; daughter: Rebecca Ruth “Becky” Welch; sons and daughters-in-law: Timothy Benjamin and Robin West, Joel Allison and Slone West, Paul Earl and Martha West; brother and sister-in-law: David and Eden West; sister: Renee West; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother: John West.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church with Steven Shelley and Wes Greeley officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Andrew Welch, Josh West, Ben West, Sam West, Kaleb Baugh, D.J. Dougherty and Philip West.
