The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect closure of the inside southbound lane of U.S. 231 at the bridges between Lacey’s Spring and Morgan City during daylight hours Mondays through Saturdays for the next four weeks, weather permitting.

“The contractor is doing some final dress-up work on the project,” said ALDOT spokesman Seth Burkett.

Motorists may have noticed some ground movement under the bridge.

“There is going to be some additional movement in the ground under the bridge from time to time,” he said. “That is to be expected, and when it occurs, it’s no cause for alarm. That’s the reason we constructed bridges with a design that allows for a safe and stable roadway that isn’t subject to any future movement in the soil.”
