A retired Blount County teacher was convicted Tuesday in the shooting death of her husband, a former Arab resident, in their bedroom more than three years ago.

William Jerry Holaway, 67, formerly of Arab was found shot to death June 10, 2016, at their residence just off Ala. 79 near the intersection of Ala. 26 following an apparent domestic dispute.

The Blount County jury deliberated 25 minutes before finding Bobbie Green Holaway guilty of murder.

Bobbie Holaway, 63, a former Blountsville elementary school teacher, called 911 to report she had shot her husband. When lawmen arrived on the scene, Jerry Holaway was dead from gunshot wounds to the face and the chest.

They had been married for about 35 years.
