Arab police are baffled as to why an Arab woman allegedly called 911 to report a crime, pushed her way into her neighbor’s house and assaulted him. The victim is 72 years old.

Sarah Ann Burton, 39, of Fourth Street NW remains in the Marshall County Jail charged with first-degree burglary. Her bond is $5,000.

Even though she allegedly assaulted the man, her only charge is first-degree burglary because, according to Arab Police Chief Shane Washburn, “if you enter someone’s house and commit a crime, it falls under the burglary statute.”

About 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Marshall County 911 received a call from a neighbor of the victim that said, “a female was having a panic attack and there was a man with a gun.”

Police headed to the Fourth Street residence.

The female was Burton. She was on the back porch of the victim’s residence.

Wait a minute. So if you break into somebody's house and assault them, the only illegal thing you did was breaking into the house?? Is that what he's saying?? That can't be what he's saying.
