Word got out last week that anyone 65 and older could get the COVID-19 vaccine at the Marshall County Health Department. That’s not true.

The vaccine there is for health care workers, first responders and those who are 75 and older.

The Marshall County Health Department is located at 150 Judy Smith Drive in Guntersville.

“I don’t know how that got started, but we need to shut it down,” said Marshall County EMA director Anita McBurnett.

Vaccine availability is something that the health department is having to monitor closely. Those who received the first dose of the vaccine earlier can get the second dose this week.

“If you have received your first shot you were given a card with a return date,” McBurnett said. “The time you received your first shot will be the time you will need to return for your second shot on the day indicated.”
