May unemployment numbers released last Friday by the Alabama Department of Labor show Marshall County’s unemployment rate to be 2.3 percent, said Matt Arnold, president of the Marshall County Economic Development Council. “This is the second lowest in the state behind only Shelby County at 2.1 percent.”

The last time the unemployment fell nearly this low was in 2008 when it reached 2.5 percent.
