Marshall County Christmas Coalition signups, like most everything else, are different this year because of COVID-19.

There will be no signups in Arab. Those needing Christmas help must sign up in Guntersville, Boaz or Albertville.

There aren’t enough volunteers to man four sign up stations as there have been in the past, according to Coalition board members.

Applications for Christmas help will be taken at the Boaz and Guntersville recreation centers and Albertville First United Methodist Church. Each will accept applications from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8; noon until 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9; 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10; and noon until 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.

Last Christmas more than 2,000 children were signed up for Christmas help and more are expected this year because of COVID-19-related unemployments.
