The Arab Sewer Department is scheduled to begin construction on five projects at the end of July.

The total cost of the projects is $11,516,438, and will be funded by a low-interest loan from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, a community development bloc grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and an Appalachian Regional Commission grant.

The grants will require matching funds that will come from the department’s construction fund that was provided in the Arab Sewer Board’s 2007 bond issue.

The state loan will be paid back using the department’s operating account beginning at the end of the construction projects, scheduled for June 2020.
