Jonathan Sanford was named Arab City Schools’ Secondary Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. He teaches at Arab Junior High School and Arab High School.

The following is a feature story on Sanford The Tribune asked one of his students, Abigail Griggs, to write.

She is the daughter Shay and Shannon Griggs.

She’s an eighth grader at Arab Junior High and will attend Arab High School in August.

Her grandparents are James and Pat Griggs, and K.E. and Julia Marsh. Abigail enjoys writing, drawing and learning Spanish as a second language.

Hola, Me llamo Abigail Griggs. ¿Cómo estás?

This is a greeting that Senior Sanford taught me toward the beginning of the school year as an eighth grader in his Spanish 1 class at Arab Junior High School. Since then I have learned many new Spanish terms and a lot about the culture of Spanish speaking countries around the world.
