Financially, Arab’s sales tax collections totaled $1,019,403 for the month of May, reflecting sales in April.

That’s $171,578 more than May of last year.

“We’re continuing to set records for sales in Arab, and we’re very appreciative of that,” said Mayor Bob Joslin. “We hope that continues but we know it could change at any time.”

Gross receipts are $1,449,309 above budget for the year thus far, $195,669 was transferred to the Capital Outlay account and $375,175 was transferred to Arab City Schools, for a total of $2,312,326 thus far this fiscal year.

The city has $2,012,827 in the general fund, $1,341,878 in savings and about $4 million in the capital outlay account.

Ok, thanks for the information and have a good day! mobdro

Is there really any other way to total up sales taxes beyond "financially"? Why on earth is that word there?? Could they have been totaled psychologically?

Thanks for the clarification.
