A request to rezone property where a warehouse is located at 194 Second Street NW from HD (Historic District) to M-1 (Light Industrial) was effectively denied by the Arab City Council Tuesday night.

“The Planning Commission has recommended that the property not be rezoned,” said Mayor Bob Joslin.

On a motion from Councilman Chris Harper, the council voted unanimously to accept the Planning Commission’s recommendation.

“The vote means no further action will be taken on this,” said Joslin.

He said a company will continue to use the building for storage.
