The city of Arab set a new record for sales tax collections in April, reflecting March sales.
The $1,195,607 collected is $334,969 more than the same time last year.
According to City Clerk Tony Willis, sales tax collections are $1,199,905 above budget for the year.
Currently, the city has $2,305,723 in the general fund, $1,341,846 in savings, $3.9 million in the capital outlay account, and $252,570 was transferred to Arab City Schools in April, for a total of $1,937,151 this fiscal year.
