The election of three trustees is on the agenda for the Arab Electric Cooperative annual meeting in August.

Anyone who wants to run for a four-year term on the board can qualify now through Thursday, July 25.

As of Monday, four people have qualified to run for the three slots, in which there will be no incumbent. The members of AEC approved a bylaw amendment two years ago that limits the number of terms a trustee can serve.

The names of those candidates and others who might qualify will be released next week.

About 12 people have picked up petitions, which are required to qualify, but they haven’t returned them yet.

All three current trustees in District 2, 5 and 7 are prohibited from seeking re-election. Those trustees are: Mark Holmes, District 2; Charles S. Whisenant, (not the Tribune editor), District 5; and Roger Head, District 7.

Co-op members can cast ballots at the annual meeting or by mail-in ballot, which are usually sent out in early August.
