The Marshall County Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed tag fee to pay for school resource officers at 9 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday).

The meeting is scheduled to be in the commission chambers on the third floor of the Marshall County Courthouse.

Sheriff Phil Sims and Marshall County Superintendent Dr. Cindy Wigley asked the commission several weeks ago to consider the tag fee for School Resource Officers in the Marshall County School System.

A local law, approved in 2009, allows the commission to impose a tag fee for Marshall County Schools from $1 to $25 per tag.

Only residents in the unincorporated parts of the county would have to pay the fee, not those inside the city limits of Arab, Albertville, Boaz and Guntersville, because they have their own school systems.
