Two area men were denied early release from prison last week by the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Michael Alan Worsham was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2006 for stealing payroll checks from an Arab company. He was charged with first-, second- and third-degree possession of a forged instrument.

He’s serving his time in William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer.

Metzger, who lived in Union Grove and Joppa, was sentenced in 2018 to 120 months on four counts possession of obscene material, two counts of violation of the sex offender notification law

Three of those charges were in Marshall County and three were in Jackson County.

Metzger was living in Marshall County as a registered sex offender from Jackson County when the new charges were filed against him, according to Marshall County Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Bray.
