A Marshall County Jail inmate died Friday, Aug. 27, at Marshall Medical Center North from COVID-19 complications.

Joseph Campbell of Guntersville was identified by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office as the inmate.

Campbell was booked into the Marshall County Jail on July 30 on a charge of dissemination/display of child pornography and several counts of possession of obscene materials. He was admitted to Marshall Medical North on Aug. 14, for evaluation.

As of Monday, all Covid cases in the jail have completed the quarantine time required by CDC guidelines, Sheriff Phil Sims said.

“We have not had any additional inmates test positive for Covid,” he said.
