Alabama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon – R, Monrovia, and several other Republican House members and public safety who held a news conference Friday afternoon did not endorse Rep. Will Ainsworth’s proposal to arm teachers and school administrators.

Ainsworth, R-Warrenton, said last week after a school shooting in Florida resulted in the deaths of 17 people, said he would sponsor legislation that would allow teachers and administrators to be armed during school hours a means to protect students.

Ainsworth was scheduled to hold a press conference about the proposal in Guntersville yesterday.
